With the 4th of July quickly approaching, the Northshore has plenty of fun, patriotic activities to enjoy your holiday in style.
Four on the 4th Run/Walk (Covington) – Looking to burn some calories before a celebratory hot dog eating contest? This annual four-mile run/walk is the perfect way to kick off the day – all while raising funds for charity. Registration and race number pick-up begins at 6:30 AM at Hubie Gallagher Park. Adults begin racing at 7:30 am with kids starting immediately after.
Sparks in the Park (Covington) – Bring your picnic baskets and lawn chairs or blankets to Bogue Falaya Wayside Park for the 6th annual Independence Day Celebration, on Wednesday, July 3. The event begins at 6:30 pm with fireworks at 8:30 pm Admission is free.
Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration (Madisonville) – This all-day celebration begins at 11 am with a parade through Madisonville, continues with tug-of-war, sack races and a rooster crowing contest before concluding with fireworks at 8:30 n the riverfront. Fest food includes hot-dogs, roasted corn-on-the-cob, red beans and rice, and other down-home delights.
